Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) !

Q:

What is a mountain flight?

A:

It's a flying experience unlike any other a one hour journey that takes you to the Nepalese section of the Himalayas. All you need to do is sit safe aboard your flight and have fun!

Q:

What will I see?

A:

The flight first takes you to the eastern section of Nepal's Himalayas, the Kanchenjunga ranges before heading towards the Mahalangur, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Besides eight of the world's highest peaks, Mount Everest (8848m), Kangchenjunga (8586m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu(8485m), Cho Oyo (8201m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8163m) and Annapurna (8091m), you'll see some high altitude landmarks during your flight.

Q:

When can I fly?

A:

Mountain flights operate year-round but we suggest you fly between February May and September December as recommended by many. During these seasons the skies are clear, giving you an unobstructed view of the mountains from your airplane window.

By the way, all flights take-off between 6:00 a.m. 8:00 a.m. just to make sure you're there to see the sun's ray striking the snow giants.

Q:

Which airlines take me there?

A:

Three airline companies, Buddha, Yeti and Simrik operate mountain flights. The aircrafts are usually 15-30 seater but rest assured you get a guaranteed window seat.

Q:

Where do I start this journey from?

A:

All flights take-off from the Tribhuwan International Airport.

Q:

If I have a 6 am flight, what time do I have to arrive at the airport? And how do I get there so early?

A:

Don't worry, we've got this. One of the perks of booking with us is that we pick you up from wherever you're staying and take you to the airport. YES, even for 6 a.m. flights!

Q:

How long is the flight?

A:

The flight time is one hour but at the end it will seem too short.

Q:

Will I get a window seat?

A:

YES. We make sure you get a window seat because you can't take really good photos from the aisle seat, can you?

Q:

What altitude do we climb to?

A:

The highest elevation you reach is about 25,000 ft, just at eye-level with the mountains flying higher than that would mean the mountains would look tiny from your airplane window.

Q:

How will I know what I am looking at?

A:

The tricky part is not identifying the mountains that you see, the crew onboard will do it for you, but you will have a hard time pronouncing their names.

Q:

How about the weather?

A:

We're still wondering why the weather is so unpredictable high up in the mountains. But we know from experience that there are fewer weather-related cancellations from February-May and September-December. If in case your flight gets cancelled due to bad weather, we'll book the next day's flight for you.

Q:

Will I get a refund if I can't make it the next day?

A:

Of course you will. You'll just need to ask the flight attendant for the refund, which will take no more than a week. We'll charge you 35 percent in the case of refunds.

Q:

You sound like a travel agency. Can't I just book directly through the airlines and pay lower?

A:

We are a travel agent but you'll have to pay the same price even if you book directly through the airlines. Additionally, booking with us is free of hassles, plus, we offer you airport transfers as well.

Q:

What is the cancellation policy?

A:

In the case of delayed flights due to weather or other reasons, we'll book the next day's flight for you. However, you'll have to pay for the next day's airport transfer. In the case of cancellations 24 hours before a flight, we'll charge you a 25 pc service fee. A cancellation within 24 hours of confirmed flight and no show, however, means no refund.
